New York native Paul Chip Chirimbes has been a professional sports handicapper since 1978 when he began The A-Play, a successful sports service that he still heads today. During the 1982 NFL strike, Chip was interviewed by Dan Rather on 60 Minutes about the effect of the strike on the Las Vegas wagering scene.

Chip has always had a talent for recognizing the differences between what the public is thinking about a betting line and what the real number should be. All of which gives him an edge when it comes to observing line movement and soft numbers. Chip created a first of its kind ‘live sports handicapping television show. The A-Play Sports Handicapping Show aired live in New York City, where the viewers could ‘call-in and interact with Chip and his guest handicappers.

He appeared nationally each weekly on CNN/SI for six years (1995-2001) as Las Vegas expert voice for weekend events where he handled viewer questions and gave his expert analysis. He won the Las Vegas Hilton March Mania NCAA Championship contest in 2000 and has placed among the leaders 10 times in professional sports handicapping contests including third in the Gamblers Challenge and fifth in the Las Vegas Hiltons The Contest.

Even the national media has taken notice and chirped about Chip:

Dan Rather, CBS: Sports expert Chip Chirimbes won 73 percent of his Best Bets and 62 percent overall in the pros, putting him at the top among established handicappers.

New York Times: Chipper Chirimbes is ‘The Handicapper who provides winning insights into major sporting events. Wall Street Journal: Chip is the professional handicapper in Las Vegas whose most confident picks are labeled Blue Chip specials.

CNNFN: Sports handicapping is an art and Chipper is a man who understands that art. Now we can know what an expert thinks. Show Business Magazine: Chip Chirimbes blends his gambling intuition with a thorough knowledge of sports, the result is the most informative sports show on television.

Chip is a New York University graduate with a Master Degree in Education. He is a former high school teacher, a world traveler with stops at the University of Kyoto in Japan and Copenhagen University in Denmark, a baseball and football coach as well as a certified NCAA Basketball official.
